Bunny Rolls

What you will need:

One bag of Rhodes Texas Sized Frozen Dinner Rolls (Thawed in refrigerator overnight)

Raisins

Egg wash

Dimpling Tool (optional)

Baking sheets

Silicone liner (optional)

Thawing Frozen Rolls...

You can either thaw the frozen rolls in the bag…or remove the rolls from the bag, place on a cookie sheet and cover with plastic wrap.

I just thawed them in the bag and they were a big mess, lol!

The rolls can stay in the refrigerator overnight and will be thawed and ready to use the next day.

Noses first...

On a silicone lined baking sheet, pinch off pea sized pieces of thawed dough. One for each bunny roll that you make. Rolls them into little balls and set aside.

Face next...

My rolls were quite large…you can use two thawed rolls per bunny, as I did, or use one thawed roll for a smaller finished sized bunny roll.

I used an entire thawed roll for the face.

Ears next...

Using another thawed roll, I cut it in half shaping the two pieces into long pointed ears.

Stretch them out a bit, they will get shorter and fatter as they rise.

Assembly...

Using a roll for the face, the two long pieces for the ears and the small pea shaped ball for the nose, begin laying them out on a baking sheet.

Be sure to leave lots of room between bunnies, they will rise to double their original size.

Making the eyes and face...

You can find this tool at any baking department, I bought mine at Walmart.

It has many uses, but in this case, I used it to push dimples in the dough for the eyes. You can use your finger or any round object to make a small indent in the face to set the raisins in for bunny eyes.

Finishing the faces...

Using a butter, I cut in whiskers and a mouth.

You have to push it in pretty deep, or you will lose the marks when the dough rises.

Each bunny will have their own unique facial features. Don’t worry about making them all look the same, lol.

Continue making your faces until you have the desired amount finished.

After you get your bunny faces finished, brush over the dough with egg wash.

Time to rise...

After you get the bunnies all finished, it is time to let them rise.

Cover the baking sheets with plastic wrap that has been sprayed with cooking spray, so the wrap doesn’t stick to the dough while rising.

Getting ready to bake...

Depending on the warmth of your kitchen, the rolls will take 2 – 4 hours to rise.

They should look puffy and be double in size. They will continue to rise when baked, so don’t let them over rise.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and bake bunny rolls from 15 – 20 minutes.

Cool slightly before removing to a rack or place warm rolls in a cotton napkin lined tray and cover to keep warm.

Bunny rolls...

Bunny rolls can be served as a dinner roll or as a sweet or savory dish.

For sweet treat: Blend softened butter with honey and a dash of cinnamon

For savory: Blend softened butter with fresh chives and onion powder

Fun and Easy "Special Bunny Rolls"...

Your friends and family will love the delicious dinner rolls that you made for them. They really aren’t that hard…more a labor of love, lol.

Happy Easter...

Until next time…
